Don't Miss The Boat!!

Ok folks, it’s spring over here at Scrap 'N Chat. It’s almost summer. And this Florida native is thinking about sailing the open seas. But living in Charlotte, North Carolina, there are no seas any place close by. So I decided to make our advertisements all about the boats this month. I don’t have a website for you, but I am going to give you a few advertisements to choose from. And you guessed it, they all have a boat. So pick one that inspires you by color, style, whatever speaks to you. Do you have some boat photos you need to get scrapped? Well then that will work too. Here you go and have fun!!!

And here's mine!!
And NOPE! There's not a single boat on there!

I loved the red and black advertisement with the black cutouts along the sides. I combined that with a scraplift layout from one of my favorite scrappers, scrappinvt.

May Photo of the Day, #14

Theme: Grass
Grass blades are few and far between in our red clay yard. Even with all the rain lately, it is spacey at best. But from this angle, you would hardly know it.

Photo of the Day - Catch Up!!

I have had a TIME with my insomnia this week. Needless to say, I have been lazy keeping up with Photo of the Day. Hubby and I went on a scavenger hunt of sorts today to find what I needed to catch me up. Here is our reward.

Day 8, Theme: a smell that you adore
Apples!!

Day 9, Theme: Something you do everyday
FACEBOOK!!

Day 10, Theme: a favorite word

Day 11, Theme: Kitchen

Day 12, Theme: Something that makes you happy
Someone ELSE cleaning my kitchen!!

And since we were on a roll, here's tomorrow's photo too.

Day 13, Theme: Mum

My photo is definitely a play on words as I am sure FatMumSlim was talking about "Mum" as "Mom" seeing as she is "down under." But since my Mum is in Louisiana visiting my little sis for Mother's Day, this will have to do.

I hope you all have a wonderful Mother's Day.

Until next time...

Photo of the Day, Day 7

Today's Theme: Someone that inspires you

This is my DD. And while she is younger than I, I admire her so much. She is a wonderful singer who can stand up in front of an audience and belt it out. She is outgoing, friendly and funny. Spending time with her is always a laugh a minute. I am so glad to have her in my life.

The end of NSD 2012

It's over. The National Scrapbooking Weekend is complete. And I don't know about you, but I am worn to the bone. My craft space is cluttered. My scraps are lying all over every horizontal surface in the house. I have glue drying in many different rooms. And other than a layout that I made corrections to this afternoon, I loved it all! Here are the final layouts for this weekend. Thanks for peeking in to see how my creations came about this weekend.

For my first correction...

Okay, one of yesterdays layouts has been sitting across the room looking at me all day today. There was something 'just not right'. So I made some changes.  I feel much better now!!

In this case, me and my "garden". Such a green thumb have I. BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!

Crazy Scrapping Day

Today has been National Scrapbook Day. I have been playing along with two websites since 12 noon today; Scrap 'N Chat and Big Picture Classes. Both have had challenges for this special weekend. I played along by overlapping them. It makes it so much fun. I have a few more to do tomorrow morning but I will show off what I accomplished today. Careful, the glue is still wet on a few.

I started off this morning with the NSD challenge Part 2 on Scrap 'N Chat. We had a sketch to do and I incorporated the Big Picture Classes challenge of making a frame. I love the results. I have two nieces on my side of the family. One I scrap a lot. I don't often get photos of Megan. But she looks lovely in her Prom dress with her beau.

This layout was created with thoughts of my father and his mother. I love these photos of him young and even younger. This layout covers the Double Dawg Dare challenge on  SNC as well as Challenge #2  at Big Picture Classes.

Well, well, well! Here is Megan once again sporting her baby belly. This is "Janet's Choice" Challenge on SNC and the iphone challenge on BPC.

And then there is little ol' me!! This layout covers the NSD challenge on SNC. Still waiting to see if it works out for the other website as well.

I also completed the Photo of the Day challenge today as well as celebrated Cinco de Mayo with a wonderful dinner with my family. So now I am bushed. My book is calling me from my bed. Good night all!!

Until next time...

Photo of the Day, Day 5

A few months back I took part in a photo of the week challenge. It was going along happily until the day I had to photograph birds. You know, regular old birds. The ones who hang out in my yard and mess up my car on a daily basis. I spent hours sitting quietly outside stalking my neighbor's bird feeder. I took walks around my very woody neighborhood. I even got into the car and took a drive. I wound up taking a photo of a ceramic bird for the assignment.

So you can only imagine how happy I was today when I discovered I needed to photo a bird. I told my husband, we'll see. For the past two days we have had beautiful red cardinals and vivid blue jays chasing each other all over the neighborhood. I have not seen a single one today through the window. I stepped outside and heard them chirping at me from high up in the trees. None could be seen. I told my husband, "they are mocking me." He just laughed.

After numerous trips outside I have taken about 60 photos today of scrapbook layouts, squirrels and flowers. Still there were no birds. So I herded up my DD while hubby cooked our Cinco De Mayo feast and headed to the pond. I never did find those lovely red and blue birds. I did score a family of Canadian geese, a swan and a couple of  funky ducks. Who needs a blue bird anyway?

My official entry for today

Photo Of The Day, Day 2

Skyline

We live in a unique area of South Carolina. The property our subdivision sits on used to be a theme park back in the 1980's called Heritage USA. It was a theme park that was created by a religious organization who went bankrupt. While the rides and people are gone now, there are a few reminders left for us to see each day. This is the hotel, the bumper car castle and the domed area to the left was a mall of sorts for gift shops and shows.

Photo a Day for May

For some reason or another I am all about challenges lately.
  • I have challenged myself to read a larger number of books than last year.
  • I have challenged myself to be at a certain weight by July 4, 2012
  • I committed myself to two challenges on Sparkpeople: 5K Your Way and The Spring Into Shape Bootcamp Challenge.
  • I am constantly working on scrapping challenges on the Scrap 'N Chat website.
And now there is a new one.

From her website:
For those stumbling across this for the first time, this is a photo a day challenge. Each day you look at the list and there will be a prompt that corresponds with the date of the month. For example day one is peace, so for day one you'll take a photo of something around the peace {a peace sign, something that's peaceful in your life, you doing a peace sign with your hands etc}. You then share the photo on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, your blog, PinterestFlickr or where ever you want to share it. It's a fun way to be creative every day and it's so much to be part of. Anyone can play {even if you haven't played before}.

So I am going to play!! Eventually I plan on using this as material for my scrapping. I have some ideas, but want to think them through first. So without further adieu,  here is my first photo!!

Peace

Until next time...
