WOW OH WOW!!! IT'S A HOUSE!!!

Hubby and I headed out the property to see how things were sizing up today. We got there well after 6:30 p.m. and you know Mr. Build Master had those men WORKING!!! Our first sighting of the house as we approached from down the street was a man sitting on the roof of my front porch. I shouted, HE'S ON OUR ROOF!!!! The trusses are sitting next to the house ready for the crane to come lift them up tomorrow!!! I can't believe it!!! I may have to head back over tomorrow night too.

first and second story

The trusses are ready and waiting

Our Concrete Jungle

Progress continues on the house. Today we received the call from "The Build Master" telling us the concrete slab was being poured. We ran right out there to get a new photo or two. I really wanted to sneak over and carve our initials in the corner of the front porch, but the workers were still there. I figured as soon as we left, they would go over and "erase" it. They have not poured the driveway or the back porch yet. I am planning on doing it then, LOL!!!

OH and they delivered the wood for the frame up today as well.

Until next time...

All I want is a couple days off!!

Today I woke up to the wonderful sound of rain. Now I am always appreciative of the rain here in Fort Mill, SC basically because we do not get much. But wouldn't you know it that today was the day they should have poured our concrete slab for our house. DD just came home to tell me that she did a drive by this afternoon after class and there is no one around the property. No cement trucks, no worker bees. Pooh!!!

So here is the photo we took yesterday. Hubby and I headed out there in the late afternoon and we were happy to see plumbing!!! This shot is taken from the back of our lot. I am standing on our property line so I could get a good perspective. I've got to tell you, every time we head out there the frame of the house looks too small. I guess when the walls go up, it will make a big difference.

Our frame up day for walls is October 18th. That's this Thursday. I hope the rain today does not put us back a day. I checked the forecast. No rain scheduled again until Friday. I am hoping we are still good.

Off to work on a couple of projects and dinner. I'm thinking red beans and rice.

Until next time...

House Update!!!

Today we met with "The Build Master" Brian as I will refer to him in future posts. We sat down with him today at the model to go over our blue prints to make sure everything was just as we requested. Ironically, they are not blue as I expected, LOL!!! The Build Master swished his little black ball point ink pen and fixed all the stuff that we have been having trouble getting True Homes to commit to. I think he is my new bestest buddy!!! Here here Build Master!!!

Then we headed out to the lot to take a look at the progress. The Build Master jumped from his noble steed, a dirty white ram pickup truck, and hurried back to the workers to let them in on a little secret. The house was supposed to be two foot deeper than the plan called for. I told you he is my new bestest buddy!!

Why yes, this is a dump truck sitting in the middle of my garage/living room.

NOW minus the dump truck

Kitchen foundation being bricked up!!!

Frame up day is scheduled for October 18th. Then we will have a house in about 48 working days!!! YAY!!! I'll keep you in the loop.

Until next time...

Morning was really early today

I woke up today at 3:30 a.m. when a blanket was mysteriously pulled out from underneath my arm and startled me awake. After laying there for about an hour and not falling back to sleep I decided to give it up and get up. You know the house is mighty quiet in between the snores around here.

I decided to kill time by scrapping some "quickie" things. We have a couple of ATC challenges that have been tempting me lately over at Scrap 'N Chat. But I have lacked the time to get to them. At 4:30 this morning, I found my time.

Artist trading cards or ATCs, as they are known around here, are small sized creations. The base is 2.5 x 3.5 inches, the same size as a baseball card. You can create any topic, use whatever medium you would like, and then swap them with other artists. I use them for random acts of kindness for my friends or I attach them to cards and layouts as embellishments.

October 2012 Challenge
I realize my "spooky layers" are not very spooky. but I LOVE that witch!!

So while I was waiting for the paint to dry, or should I say Mod Podge, I headed to the other challenges I have missed lately. I have been making truck loads of Christmas cards for work, so it was nice to make something that did not have a santa, snowflakes or a Christmas tree on it.

This one started off as a scrapbook layout sketch, but it kept screaming "CARD" at me. So that's where I went.

This one is a pocket card made from a paper bag that is a gift money holder.

I had planned on doing some more this evening, but I had book club and things were crazy around here. And besides I did get up at 3:30 this morning!!!

Until next time...
